Conservation

Our firm specializes in traditional techniques of conservation and implementing a "less is more" approach when it comes to refinishing historic architectural surfaces.  We believe in the conservation of original patinas, decorative painting, and historic plasters.

A classic example would be in our restoration of the Peter Stuyvesant bronze sculpture, where we utilized the traditional techniques and materials that would have been available to J. Massey Rhind, the sculptor, in 1913. The conservation goal was to preserve the original patina as it would have been applied by the sculptor.  We use the same approach to the cleaning and conservation of architectural metals such as railings and doors.
